The book Grand Designs Abroad follows the fortunes of eight couples who undertook their own major self-build and rennovation projects in four European countries. It accompanied the acclaimed Channel 4 TV series and was written with the presenter and well known architectural writer and pundit, Kevin McCloud. The book is a combination of compelling narrative and detailed information about the practicalities of building abroad.

A modernist hillside house in Malaga, a restored castle in Tuscany and a converted church on Ireland's rugged west coast are just some of the properties featured, all with their own powerful stories of impractical dreams, Kafkaesque bureaucracy, hard slog, set backs and triumphs.
